Setting up Triggers

This article will show how to use Zapier to integrate or connect different apps by creating a Zap.

Remember: Each Zap event depends on the purpose. A Zap has two essential components: the Trigger and the Action. There can be more than one Action, but only ONE Trigger per Zap event exists.

This article is the first part of creating a Zap: setting up a Trigger. We use Calendly, as an example, to connect to Campaign Refinery and create a trigger that will launch a sequence to tag the scheduled appointment as 'booked'.

The second part of creating a Zap—setting up Action - is the continuation.

How to use a Trigger

1. Sign up or Log in to Zapier.

4. Depending on the APP chosen as the Trigger, it will show different events you can choose from.

For example, for Calendly, we choose 'Invitee Created' under the Event field.

In this example, sign in to your Calendly account.

6. Each App has its way of integrating with a Zap. It can be a URL like in Google Sheets, Doc, or an API Key.

For Calendly, as an example, copy Your Unique API Key (refer to #6 of Integrating Calendly Article) and paste it on the empty fields on the page.

Take Calendly as our example. You can use the Calendly Integrations while you are on a Trial plan. However, once the trial ends, you should subscribe to a Professional or higher plan to continue using Zapier for your integrations.

Click 'Yes, Continue' when the API key is added to the empty field.

An example is below. When signed in, the email connected to your Calendly account will appear in the required field. Then, click 'Continue'.

When you Skip a test, you can always troubleshoot the error.

11. Click 'Continue' to proceed with the Action. Click this link to proceed with the next part of creating a Zap.
